Vintage Clowns

I am trying to find out a little history on these small clowns. They belonged to a friend who had a large collection of clowns. I removed the clothing from the smallest clown to show the unique body frame. These appear to be homemade. The bodies are wire and have yarn knit over the frames. I'm not certain on the material of the face, hands, and boots. I believe it maybe ceramic. I was hoping to learn who and where they were made. Thank you. Any information will be greatly appreciated.
