We purchased this wonderful pierced basket several years ago in the flea market. We were sure it was silverplated because it was heavy, generally silver objects are lighter. The central design was so German in my opinion but after looking to the hallmarks we were almost sure that it is British. Sergio looks at our books and I on the web but no identical set of signs could be found. Some type of initials, an eight point star, a real lily or fleur de Lis and a gothic p or b (fourth picture). The pseudo repousse central panel is not common, generally they consist of flowers or cherubs but not maidens or nymphs (third picture), there there is a supplementary impressed mark: Rº 517820, it is upside down. There is a missing handle, it has four ball feet and an ornate border. There is a similar one (not pierced and without the ball feet but with the handle) https://www.etsy.com/es/listing/223111549/antique-silver-plated-oval-dish-english anounce as an Antique Silver Plated Oval Dish , English Candy Bowl , Silver Plated Centerpiece , Fruit Basket Tray Dish , Shabby Chic, a beautiful Antique Dish is oval in shape and has a embossed pattern. Made by EPNS, Made in England.
It is interesting that although so similar the marking is totally different.
