I am trying to find the origin of this doll and I wonder if anybody knows who made it and where it came from? This "Monkey" doll is 16 inches tall and 5 inches wide at the shoulders. At one time it was stuffed with cork but it has been restuffed with cotton. It belonged to my Dad who was born in 1917 and he called it "Jocko," when he was a kid. As you can see it is jointed at the arms and legs and is made of a short synthetic fur? It's face is stenciled on and its eyes are black buttons. I suspect, from the missing fur, that there was a tag at the top of its chest at one time. Any ideas?

Hi, Just found this from 10 years ago - Hope you’re still out there!
I collect old toy monkeys and have several of these guys, including one with a tag. They were made by Ross&Ross of Oakland, CA - a Father and Son (or 2 sons) who made dolls and soft toys from the 20s - WWII.

Originally he would have had a pillbox-shape felt hat and a vest. He should also have a tail, long, unstuffed, with the end curled over and stitched.
