I found these treasures at a friends home who is moving. She said they were old. I am told now Composition dolls from 30's. They have "cry" boxes in tummy, one working. Eyes close when you lay down. I wonder if anyone knows more about the type of dolls?
The eyes open and close. Not sure if they are porcelain. ANy idea how to tell?
These are all composition dolls often referred to as Mama Dolls as they had a crier or box in stomach so when you tipped them they made a wah sound . Look at back of heads on neck there should be names there who made them .They date 1930-40s . If you look at necks let me know what you see or photo them is better and always good to photo dolls nude to see body construction . Your dolls can be repaired as composition often did not hold up well ,It does not like dampness . I will await you reply
I need to see 1st one close up it maybe hard plastic head and paint retouched
How can I send you pictures?
You can add them to your post by going to edit and can add 2 more photo's remove one as these as they are same so then you can add 3 more photo's to post
If you can't do that you can email then to me I will reply on your post

See new photos, but I have more I can send. Appreciate it.
Ok I received your photo they are all composition . The first one has had lips repainted and not original arms . I need to know what you see on back of necks there should be raised name there . The one you sent of part of back of head doesn't show me the neck or lower down on back a name . Can you look again
I see what you mean about the lips. I tried to take the "clothes " off but the bodies are sewn in a sort of "burlap" so you cannot access it. The neck, feet and head have no markings....just not sure what they are or worth. No name. are you local? I could bring them to you?
