The Ex-Lax company was founded in 1906. This laxative was very popular because it tasted like chocolate, and this made it easier for children to take a laxative without a fight. The sign is made on masonite board and the colors are still bright. The thermometer once was on a building, because the edges have paint on them, as the thermometer was painter around while on the building. The thermometer is porcelain and is in very good working condition.
I have a thermometer that is round that says "keep regular" then EX-LAX below it. It is white with maroon lettering. This item was part of a larger sign, I saw one at a flea market in Texas, any Ideas.
Your thermometer looks brand new. I have one with the glass temp gauge going horizonally about a foot down. Unfortunately some kids used it for BB practice and it is in poor shape. Wonder where I could find a replacement glass temp gauge?
Funny story...My younger brother who is now 50, when he was about 4 or 5 he use to be the biggest tattle-taler, anyway he was threating to tell my mom that I broke one of her favorite vases, so I told him if he didn't tell my mom I'd give him some chocolate candy...if you haven't guessed it by now he spent a couple of days stuck in the bathroom p.s. mom found out what I did and I was grounded for a month. ( I was 10 at the time)
