I recently purchased this pedal car to restore for my Grandson. I have not been able to find much information about this particular model anywhere on the internet. Is there any value to this car? It has hard plastic tires that are original pieces (I've seen other pictures on the web), it is complete although the paint is very faded. It was a true barn find. Any information about it including history, value, etc. would be appreciated!
Not really sure plastic tire would certianly date it. I would paint it up for my Grandson, add some new tires (I'm sure they can be had on E-Bay) and let him enjoy........If these get considered to valuable then they lose the original intent....FUN..........
I meant *but plastic tires would*.........
If you really want to have fun paint it up like your classic car in the back round that would make him the envey of all his friends ! Just a thought..... I would !
That's looks like a 1960's AMF/Murray pedal car that somebody has modified with large plastic wheels that were not stock. The stock wheels fit under the body like a normal car and were made of metal with a thin 1/2 inch band of rubber as the tire.
I bought one off of ebay like this one. The wheels are not original. I'm in the process of restoring it. It's a lot of fun, but probably not worth much money.
Looks like you have a 68 chevelle. Just noticed it behind the pedal car. Have a great day! :-)
We have about 7 rusty pedal cars from an estate I am handling.
Does anyone have any idea what they would be worth? They
are old. Most of them have wheels, but one is just a rusty
shell that is a tractor.
My Dad has one that he got as a child... around 1950 and it still works today. It has some rust spots scattered on it but the blue color and decal are still intact and it has hard tires, not plastic... I'm trying to find the value of it for him as well. Someone saw it and offered $300 on the spot. Must be worth something!
THIS IS WHAT YOU HAVE. IT IS BUILT BY MURRAY IN THE LATE 60'S. THIS MODEL WAS CALLED THE TOOTH GRILL. THIS IS ONE OF THE LAST PEDAL CARS BUILT BY THAT COMPANY. YES, THE PLASTIC TIRES ARE CORRECT.THE EARLIER VERSION OF THIS PEDAL CAR DID NOT HAVE THE OPENING FOR THE BACK TIRES AND THEY HAD STEEL WHEELS. THE ORIGINAL GRAPHICS WAS '' RALLY PINTO '' THE GRAPHICS ARE ON EBAY ONCE IN A WHILE.THE VALUE RESTORED IS USUALLY AROUND $250-$300.
I have the same car man. Mine is green and the tires are the same. Cool piece. Ill add pics of mine to my profile on here.
