I am trying to find out the age of this cast iron plant stand . The only markings I have found on it so far are the letters A.S. 38 . It also has two faces in the center of the two motifs on the top .The faces are of an old man with a beard . I am in the process of stripping the many layers of paint off it . Can anyone tell me anything about it ?

I know this is old by looking at it . It came from an elderly neighbors estate . I have lived by her for 20 years and it has always looked as it does now . I am thinking maybe it is from the 1800's but I am not sure . I also do not know what style to call it . I have looked all over the internet under different things and I have not found anything that looks near to it .This is going to stay with me the rest of my life . She was a very nice lady and I always enjoyed our visits . Any help identifying it would be very much appreciated . Thanks

Well I had my plant stand cleaned up and found some markings on it . Is there anyone out there that knows anything about a company called " Art Specialty Co." of Chicago , ILL . ? I can not find any information on the internet . I did find a company by that name but they only make light fixtures . I e-mailed them and asked if they made other things before they started making light fixtures in 1932 but I have not received a reply . In all my searching I have only found one table that is similar to mine . It was on e-bay but the auction ended . I also e-mailed the seller and they did not know any more than I do about the company that made these . I will see if I can upload a new picture of what it looks like now .
