Husband inherited this from his Great Grandfather, who received it as a retirement gift near the turn of the century. Hoping to find its maker?

Looks to be a Herschede Model 320 Colonial from circa 1930. If so, it should measure 87" x 20 1/2" x 14 3/4". If you get the Serial Number off of the back of the movement you can usually determine the year of manufacture. See this link for some history on the Herschede Clock Company http://www.champsclock.com/herschedeinfo.htm#history
Hope that solves your mystery. If not, ask away. If so, please indicate "Mystery Solved" in your listing. Thanks for sharing your heirloom.
Nice call Bruce....kudos
Nailed it!!! Wow. Our's is 61537, so 1918. Very interesting link too. Thank you so much!
You're very welcome oldjunk. You have an excellent early example of the model. Glad we could help solve your mystery. Thanks again for sharing your "Great" Grandfather's Clock. :)
Kerry, thanks. We do what we can, eh? You had some nice calls on upstatenycollector's Lux clocks too. :)
It is a beauty. Amazing what they gave as retirement gifts back then. Lucky today if you get a pizza and a handshake.
