Sorry are there eyes painted they seem to be
Maybe 1960's era ?? What does the label say besides Japan? Great they still have their Chain!!
Nov. Co
The eyes might be painted
The big letter above that i think is a G
Nov. I found that that stands for Novelty. It was made at Novelty company then.
mowgli - here is a "sticker" link for Japan figurine labels - at the bottom of the page is another link for other countries.

Thanks aghcollect, that sight will be very helpful
Could they have been made for side shows at carnivals, clowns that you pop the ball in there mouth & come out on a number they use to have things like that.
Maybe, the marking i no means Novelty company. I'm not sure what the G stands for.
I do not think these dogs are chalk
ceramic novelty type of things -- like something You win at Canivals or go buy at a store. I would think Japan which could be LEFTON, or GIFTCRAFT as a suggestion. Some enjoyable links for ya...

Thank you so much. If you know of any other cool sights please let me know
My grandmother had this same set made by G Novelty Co. Japan (probably 50's circa) as I loved to play with them as a small child. She also had a horse with two colts on a chain as well. Also, G Nov. Co produced mugs, plates, nodders & other ceramic figurines. Hope this helps you find more info in your search. Best wishes.
Thank you
