Gorgeous Nouveau wall tile purchased at the Bendigo Antique Fair this weekend. The seller had 10 but I no longer renovate so just bought one to put in a frame...there is a lot of conjecture as to which way is up in my house?

Any assistance? Which way is up please????

Also the tile has no marking on the back but I'm guessing Victorian/Nouveau due to the subject and colour..and no, I don't want to see it in the Johnson catalogue of 1982 as I'll blow my budget of $12....

These tiles look terrific with a wooden frame. I also own a very old Minton and Hollins blue glaze which I think I still have in here..

    Enjoy....

I like it pic 1 way best :) but maybe you should frame it with two hooks to swap around from time to time. Gorgeous old tile...and yes I have no problem which way up mine go but I do have a problem deciding which way to place them in my table!

yes I thought pic 1 too but when you look at it in person it looks funny but then the same happens with pic 2 version...grrrr

Very nice Anne. At first I thought, like Karen, and the first photo was the right way up but I rather like it the other way now, I don't know, lol. It looks nice either way up:)

Ok penny's asking us over to a BBQ NZ style where we are all going to eat accords...lol..I tried when I was a child as we had a huge accord tree in the back garden...they were horrid...

My vote is for pic 2. Acorns hang down from a stem, not up, so I think 2 is correct.

Fran and Rick have thrown a rather large spanner in to the works and gone for Jo 2. Now do you see why I am soooooooo confused... Hehe...Sean of course is Beautiful....!!!!!!

And yes Ms Penny, preferring to be a lady, unlike some of our eastern neighbours I preferred to choose to ignore the nut hanging reference...lol...indeed...

Absolutely picture nr 1! Think about the law of gravitation! An acorn has some weight so what makes them point upwards in pic nr 2? In pic nr 1 the center acorn is held up by the position in the middle of the thicker branch but the acorns on the sides don't have the support and will hang down. You would want a pattern like this to point up toward the ceiling, not the floor. It gives the room an upplifting feeling. Compare with wallpaper that have medallion patterns.

I'm sorry, but it's obviously pic #2. That thicker branch (which BTW, is thinner than the ones holding the acorns) can easily hold up the two acorns on the sides in pic 2 just as easily as it holds the center one in pic #1. Secondly, the law of "gravitation" would have the leaf growing down not up. :)

This wallpaper has plenty of uplifting no?

I see we are both convinced we are right :)
AnnLander, what ever feels right in your house is ofcourse most important. It's a beautiful tile!
