It always amazes me when a plique a jour piece of jewelry survives without damage!
I was incredibly lucky to acquire this plique enamel bracelet in
formed as stylized butterflies. Set in sterling, it has large central chrysoprase cabachons and smaller onyx cabs, red enamel and marcasites. The butterfly wings are plique a jour enamel in green, white and purple.
Hallmarks include a cat (Egypt)and a capital letter E dating it to 1929.
I have another lovely plique bracelet which is also Egyptian. Anyone have any information on Egyptian Deco jewelry?
WOW! Without the marks I would never have guessed it was Egyptian. The design and workmanship is fabulous. So Deco. Wonder if it was a high end piece for sale to rich tourists doing the Tutankhamen tour?
Fab. I love plique jewels but I've never seen an Egyptian one before. Mainly German & French nouveau.
It doesn't even look real !
EPOUSTIFLANT !
WOWSER !! Stunnnnnnnning!!
WOAAH! Love this design, the wings look like the egyptian lotus blossom, and the beast as the rebirth beetle symbol. Never seen Egyptian plique too, thanks for sharing!
magnificent!!
Stunning!!

How very cool! Great sleuthing, Kyra! I have to say I like my green stones better, but of course, no one can accuse me of being biased... Mine doesn't have any import marks either, but the bracelet you found has a really good photo of the Egyptian cat mark.
I prefer yours too :-)
I think the hallmarks pics are always interesting to see.
