This is really a beautiful vase. The color, the form, and that being said it's probably Asian. The form is reminiscent of a Chinese baluster vase. Still it looks handmade. The color of the neck turns almost black as it leaves the body. It also has a subtle vertical optic running through the body to the top. It stands a little over 13" tall and the opening flares to 6" in diameter. No marks or labels. -Mike-

It is lovely and I can see why you think Asian. Not Japanese I don't think.

The base is interesting...it looks like it has a moulded name and then a hot glass pad has been poured over it. Is that how it seems to you or am I seeing things?

My thoughts exactly Karen , but I'm fairly certain it's just a tool mark of some kind. It has a few bubbles and a bit lumpy in spots, that's why I'm thinking hand made. I couldn't find anything like it online but it is an eye catcher for sure. :)

That so does look like a mark on the bottom. I would spend ages looking at that no doubt eventually one could make something from it. ;o) The colour and shape are very appealing. There is something about Amethyst glass. I grew up with a little centerpiece that was made in Sweden, I believe. I had added a few pieces over the years. I love the colour. Thank you for showing us this lovely vase.
      Sincerely,
      Lisa
