    Lisa-light…
    (30 items)

The little vase, was ID ed for me by Czechman as Kralik I am almost sure but when I went back to look up my listing I was just talking to myself? All the other comments were gone. I did look at other Czech vases also made by Kralik and I think perhaps this large one is too. The quilted one with ''blown out ribs'' is much larger, It stands 5 inches tall and is 8 inches at the widest point. The little one is about four inches tall and about the same wide. The colour is quite different too, the first has a smoky colour to the pearlescent glass. While the little one is very ''white'' by comparison. Please let me know if you have any questions. Or need further images. Thank you.
    Sincerely,
    Lisa

Oops, I should have mentioned that the pontil is quite different on the larger one. Which is why I was so unsure. It appears to have been pressed with a different pattern to improve the scar. Is that significant? Thank you.
      Sincerely,
      Lisa

Hi Lisa, They're probably both Kralik 'Mother of pearl' decor. They come in many different moulded textures and the tint can vary a lot. Some come with applications and quite a few have been posted here. You can see more at,

Thank you, I did go to Kralik just now but guess what? The MOP page has been taken down for a bit because they feel there might be a mistake. I can wait. Don't you just love that they are so vigilant? Great researchers there that is for sure. I'm really looking forward to making time to explore the site. Thank you sklo! You are great. Thank you too to Rick and everyone who loved the vase. I appreciate your having taken the time to look at it. Even if we do get the odd naked critter and I do mean odd, I love this site and all it can be.

Both of these are wonderful examples of MOP glass.

I am of the opinion that the second vase is likely Kralik production.

The MOP page on Kralik-glass.com is down because I am of the belief that far too much MOP production was attributed to them early on, and I have some doubts regarding some of the attributions.

I did not make the initial attributions of the patterns, so I am reviewing the shapes and patterns myself. I would rather err on the side of caution and remove the page for a while, than perpetuate information I am not sure is correct.

The first example above with the diamond quilted pattern is actually a pattern I do not believe Kralik did. The pattern on the underside is unlike other production by them. These pieces such as this with a ground rim would not have had a pontil scar. They were mold blown from the top and then cut and ground / polished. The center pattern on the underside of this first example is not a pattern I have seen on any other Kralik production in any décor.

I have also seen examples of the first décor referred to as Kralik Martelé in this forum, and they are not Martelé.

      Hope this helps.....

Thank you so much for all of your information. I did look at a lot of Martele patterned glass and could see quite clearly that my rose bowl pattern seemed to me to be far too regular to be Martele, so I am tickled to hear that you know it isn't. The metal frog on my rose bowl is a match for the one on Peggy's rose bowl. The gorgeous one with the green webs. I assume that means nothing or virtually nothing since they can so easily be lifted off and placed on another piece. Since it isn't Kralik do you have any ideas about what factory may have produced it?
As I said before, not knowing that you would read it. I am so thrilled that you have taken down a section of your site to examine it and make the changes you feel necessary. That speaks volumes about your desire and commitment to the research. Thank you, sir. Without selfless people like you it would be almost impossible to expand the world of the passion we all share.
      Sincerely,
      Lisa

Hello again. I have no real idea who produced them. It is not uncommon to see this décor pattern with the same type of center mark on the base.......

As far as my website goes..... I appreciate your comments. My only real desire is to investigate areas of this glass that have not been thoroughly researched and see if I can add to the knowledge....... Obviously Welz has been my greatest area of interest......

I enjoy it very much, and enjoy sharing what I know, or think I know.... :-) I was for the longest time, first and foremost....a collector....... Ending up researching glass was an accidental thing...... all started by a picutre of a piece of glass initially identified as Kralik, but bearing a Welz label....... It was an accident that sent me in an direction that inadvertently ended up being of greatest interest to me...... my greatest enjoyment now is from the research and the knowledge I can contribute to the hobby...... and collecting is secondary, and now really driven by my research......

Thanks again... I really appreciate it....
