1938 franklin magazine 8 movie camera, excellent condition. when i found it, it even had the original magazine of film still inside. the unique thing about this find is that when your done filming on one side of the cassette, flip it over and film on the other side. i have never had anything near this type before and cannot find any kind of information about this one. it has a wind up motor and the camera is still fully functional.
Very cool camera.
This format appears to be Straight-8 (or Single-8 depending on the company) which is basically Double 8mm within a magazine or cartridge. Double 8mm is 16mm wide with the perforations of 8mm film. It is exposed twice and cut in half during processing.
I as well can't find anything specific to this model, I could find the model 115 but that was made in 1948...
If you have any more questions I can certainly try to answer them.
Great find!!
Wow, nice to find this article. I too have an old franklin 8mm 115 and have been looking for information. I am particularly interested in getting an idea of what the value might be. Thanks for sharing information -- you let me know the year this model was made. My camera is very clean, as it's been protected in a camera case and it also has a light meter with it. It appears to be in excellent condition but it has no film. Does anyone happen to know where I could find some film for this camera?
