this beauty was made by ruppelwerk gmbh germany, gotha, around 1930 and has been designed by marianne brandt (1893-1983) – who studied at the bauhaus and became head of the ruppelwerk design department in 1929. brandt is well known for her lamp designs for kandem
this inkwell is stamped below with ‘RUPPEL geschützt’ (protected)
ruppel pieces a very rare to find and i love this piece
marianne brandt is the best-known female artist of the bauhaus and wassily kandinsky & paul klee were among her teachers.
