my yesterdays purchase is this edo (tokyo) style “naga hibachi” actually a long firebox which is used in the tea ceremony and as a heating. as far as it looks to me it is made from keyaki (zelkova) wood.
supposed to be from the meiji period, late 19th century, the hibachi were braziers used in old homes and shops to provide heat, warm sake and to boil water for tea.
even i don't drink any tea or sake at all i couldn't leave it behind....
It could make a nice ice box for your beer
