This little beauty only stands 4" tall but its one of the rarest in our collection. I have seen only one other in the vault in the MAK in Vienna in a different form. Oil spotting with random applied reddish brown (volcano) colored waves outlined by dark red/brown lines. The silver blue iridescence is helped along by the clear ground. Produced for the Viennese retailer Bakalowitz and Sons in 1901.
In my opinion, the decor is very much a combination of a Phänomen Genre 2/679 and a Loetz Cytisus mixed together...see ref. photos from Loetz.com.
