This poor guy had only one wing left :-(
He is tall! 5.5cm x 5cm (2.1/16" x 2")
935 silver, and the garnet set body and eyes add to his charming look.
I filled the lacking wing area with nacreous Fimo paste, baked the brooch for 30 minutes at 110 celsius, then colored with watercolor pencils and nacreous eye shadows.
Two layers of Pebeo glass clear (applied by drops with a tooth pick) then dried another 30 minutes in the oven at 60 celsius.
All process took one hour and a half :-))
My new "flutterby" is repaired, ready for the spring season !
Hi Valentino! I posted a pic of the catch, never encountered this kind. I think it is around 1915/1920.
For baking it, I knew it was a risk, but 110 celsius is not very high. Damp is more dangerous for this kind of baubles!

Hi Nuts! Post it so I can see what you call peeling. Not a specialist of costume finishes, and as mostly stones were glued or with paint back, they hate beeing damped. Have a google for Medallion Care - Liquid Silver.

Thank you Bluboi, I tried to match the real butterfly wing effect, only turquoise bright sparkling eye shadow (bought for the purpose, I don't wear this...) did the thing, lol!

is it a blue morpho?
Hi Ho2! Not an entomologist... But it doesn't seem to be the blue variety...
Rather looks like a banded Achilles Morpho, or similar :-)
