This doll belonged to my grandmothers mum. My grandma was born in 1900 so I assume this was from the late 1800,s? 1880 maybe? Can somone tell me? Leather eyebrow totally jointed and in great shape.

Look on back of her neck and photo what you see . There will be a mark there ok I will await for your reply , Could it say 215 mold number ?
    2. Lgeitz, 10 years ago
It does not have anything on the neck. But it's a wooden doll covered in plaster maybe? And the lower back says "Germany 5 1/5" she is about 2.5 feet tall.

Hi your dolls head is made of Bisque and body is composition . Where do you see Germany on her body ? That would just be a size number , her head can be gently pulled up it maybe marked lower on neck or higher under wig cap , can you peak under the wig ?
    5. Manikin Manikin, 10 years ago
there maybe just a symbol also .
    6. Lgeitz, 10 years ago
Germany is written on her lower back. Found a bunch of stuff under her wig. It says : Madein K 1/2 Germany 14 1/2 196

Didn't see a symbol. I posted more pics and added comments to what I found. Let me know your thoughts.

She is made by Kestner and is mold 161 with fur eyebrows .
Kestner began using mold numbers in 1892, dolls prior were marked with the size number or a letter only, so she dates 1892 or a bit later . Beautiful Doll and Kestner made some of the finest quality dolls in Germany .Thank you for sharing her ! Love her and what a treasure to have as a heirloom .

oops I put up one link twice but there are 3 that show her when I asked if she was mold 215 it was because that is a Kestner mold and she looks like her too. Your Mold was made with fur eyebrows and some made with painted eyebrows .
