I was hired by children of an elderly couple to empty their house after both had passed and the grown children had taken everything they wanted out of the house. This older lamp was among items left for me to dump & I just could not bare to throw it in the dumpster with everything else. It is 27" high and is very heavy at around 40 lbs+. There is no writing, dates or stamps of any kind either. I am trying to get an idea of its history as I'm sure the old couple had it for many years.
If you like it enjoy. Just be sure to have the wiring checked. It looks to be of similar quality to the prizes won at carnivals.
its 1940's shabby chic chalkware lamps I have a pair of them
These were made in the late 1960's to early 1970's actually. Some went into the 1980's. There was a major export business set out from italy and many shops were set up just to sell these wares, lamps and stands. These look to be chalkware but they sometimes made larger lamps out of metal also. Usually on the chalkware ones the casting was from poor to good, and these are a nicer quality with colour in them also. A lot were just cast in white. I used to see a lot of them in the 1990's in garage sales, and bought a number of the good quality stands with the marble insert. The marble usually always had a Made in Italy stamp. I have shown a number of these in my collections saves.
