The trade winds blew this beautiful glass pot into my mailbox. The thing I love about these Kralik silberiris pieces is that each one has so much character. The bright color, the thick and heavy iridescence, and the tooled shape all add interest. In addition to the the cartouche indents and rim twists, this piece also had a surprise on the bottom that I only noticed after I took photos - an engraved alpha-numeric mark (N97740). Its significance is not known to me. It appears original, although it certainly could have been added later. The mystery is- for what reason was the number added?

      Hi Warren another beauty..
The number may be an inventory number .. museums use these and in earlier times did not think engraving it was defacing in any way now day they have to be removable so as not to damage the fabric of objects ( or at least that is the theory)
