I have a 138 pieces of Dinner & Tea service that my father bought in 1920's, whilst he was in the royal navy. I would like some idea of origin and value. There is no marking on the base.

Chinese, and almost certainly contemporary to when your father bought them. I couldn't say much about valuation, except that they wouldn't be valued as antique porcelain.

Decoration consists of 'shou' (longevity) surrounded by three bats (Chinese 'fu', symbolic of good fortune). and three clusters of three auspicious fruits: peach (longevity again), pomegranate (think of the many seeds) and the citron known as Buddha's hand.
