Designed in 1936 by E.W. Fuerst, these Art Deco glass bookends were part of the "Glass Art" line from the Owens-Illinois Glass Company, which is still in existence today. The Owens-Illinois Glass Company did a number of Art Deco designed items during the 1930's, including giftware items and more utilitarian objects such as bottles.
These bookends are really heavy for their size, and the molded design with a stepped base and the gazelle are typical Art Deco motifs.
