Very Nice payroll chest. The trunk may have markings so look close, paint can tend to hide them.,If not I would begin with the markings on the lock,I would seek to find the lock manufacturer. Places that could be helpful..The "Lock Museum of America"
Terryville Conn. (860)- 589- 6359 been around since 1972,collection of British locks
      Antique Padlocks.com
      1st internet lock museum
These internet sites have good solid info on old locks, and people who would know.
The lock might not be original to the trunk/then again it may be , but it is a starting point. Much luck with your quest thanks for sharing.
