For years I have been looking for some kind of information or similar on this vase. It was my grandfather's. It is glass, a red orange gloss - the swirl has texture and feels raised, the inside color is dull, no seams. It stands 7 1/2" tall, opening is 2 1/2" diameter, base is 3" diameter. I'm hoping someone can help! I have no idea if I have this in the right category!!

Hello... Your vase is Czech and produced around 1925-30. The house that produced this decor has never been identified. It is a great color and shape......

you know ive been waiting for a glass person to see what they would say and my first thought was Czech , but I wasn't for sure!!

Has never been identified! So, it isn't just me! Thank you! It is in perfect condition....I was once told that the swirl was made from a melted marble, but don't know that to be true.

Any idea of what it may be worth, if anything?
    8. welzebub welzebub, 10 years ago
Personally, I do not really discuss values... they can be subjective..... It is worth more as a keepsake from your grandfather than as a Czech vase..... that I ca assure you..... and it is not a décor seen aal that much....

And no... not made with a melted marble...... made with molten glass applied to a "gather", or a kind of ball of glass on the end of a pipe, and then blown into a mold. It is then cut off of the pipe at the top, and ground and polished for a nice finish on the rim.....

Here is a link to a short video which will give you a little idea..... this does not show the cutting from the pipe, or the grinding and polishing.... but may give you a little idea..... Nice to know how it is made.....

My pleasure.... always glad to help..... I had one like this but it was destroyed when a shelving unit collapsed a few years ago..... I always liked it a lot.

That is sad, I'm sorry for you. Mine has a humorous history really, I always wondered why my grandfather had a vase, he was not that sort of man :). With that it got handed from gram to mom and on to me super fast. One day it hit me, he had it because it torked my gram, lol. I got it because both her and my mom thought it was ugly! I think it's beautiful!

      Probably Anton Ruckl c. 1925.

If enough time goes by and you document these decors, you find some answers for some of the massive number off unattributed Czech deco art glass.
Most likely Kralik, identified on my Czech glass information website in this shape with a different Kralik decor, and signed with the open o arch mark. These were produced in two sizes, and have decors which are not very common.
