this is another piece I inherited from my Mother in Law, who was born in Scotland in 1926. I am not sure if this is crystal or glass and there are no maker's marks on it, but I think it is really pretty. I learned from katherinescollections that arora borealis was made after 1956, how about this clasp? The clasp has 3 little rhinestones in each side. Can anyone add any info? I have found a lot of similar necklaces online, they seem to be pretty abundant.
Beautiful necklace. From the clasp, end pieces, and hook, I'd call it late 50s, one of the experts may have a different opinion.
Thanks so much katherinescollections! I really liked this one. I am going through items and it's like Christmas :)
Had to pop in for a second -- Looks like an AURORA BOREALIS Necklace. Here are some of mine, and info there:

I have one like yours, too, but when I got it I didn't pay attention that there were supposed to be two strands - mine has only one. But it doesn't matter because I am keeping it for "spare" parts.
Thanks so much nutsabotas6! She was a great lady & yes she did have great taste! Thanks for the love!
Awesome pieces freiheit! I would keep it too, when it's on the neck, no one will know it should be 2 strands! Thanks so much for the love!

Lovely aurora borealis necklace!
Thank you Elisabethan!
Your welcome :). I have seen very light necklaces that felt plastic and heavyer crystal glass necklaces all with the aurora borealis effect. I also have a long blue crystal necklace that is really heavy and that also have a rainbow/AB effect but looks and feels very different. I have never been able to figure out if it's all aurora borealis although different material/glass or if the really heavy once are something else? Could the heavy once be older crystal necklaces with other tecnique used? Don't know.
I ment to write 'ones'.
Thanks so much for the love mikelv85!
Gorgeous, lots of spakle!
I have one from my Grandma and have had a few others. From what I've read about them, the hook and extension chain was popular in the 50s, but some have decorative clasps too.
