grainy photo. do the letters VDB appear clear and larger, compared to another penny, on the bottom of the "bust of Lincoln, by the edge of the coin?
Or are they are on the bottom of the back of the coin? That is the most valuable version of this coin.
No, there is not a VDB marking anywhere on this penny...just the date.
It is worth around a dollar or two.
Thanks....I appreciate the info VikingFan82.
You're welcome. If you are looking to sell your coins you can email me at flea82_1999@yahoo.com
When the time to liquidate comes around I'll keep you in mind,VikingFan82. Right now I'm just enjoying discovering more about what I own. Never had time to research when raising eight children. Now that the nest is empty I can really dig deeper into the discovery process. I've got a lot of garage sale, flea market and thrift shop buys to research after 30+ years of dragging the stuff home.
Haha, good deal. Enjoy the search!
This penny has value and it's worth 2 or 3 cents
Values are determined by current market values...or what collectors are currently paying. Logically, a coin collector would pay 2 or 3 cents in a heartbeat for a 1909 cent.
So...if I take into consideration your estimate of 2-3 cents and VikingFan82's estimate of 1-2 dollars....then I might be looking at a price range of 2 cents--2 dollars. I'd say that is not so bad a price range for .....a not so special ...1909 one red cent.
Thanks for taking the time to add your input on the matter....I appreciate your consideration.
You're welcome!
I just got the 2012 red book for coin values. the lowest value for this penny is $3.50.
Thanks VikingFan82....I appreciate your letting me know that info. I'll mark that down in my files.
One way to track the price is on eBay,just pump in 1909 penny and you will usually have several to look at.If you have quite a few coins try to learn how to grade them.Silver market is strong and looks like it will stay that way, possibly double by the end of the year.
Wow!!! I never knew coins could be so interesting. Do you know if there are any tutorial videos anywhere that teach one how to grade coins? I love to read, but my eyesight ,in one eye, is very bad....watching videos is a lot less taxing.
I don't know about videos but you can find the redbook at most bookstores. It has a description of what to look for as far as wear and tear for each condition, before the prices of each coin.
Sabyrd8:L This is not a vidio but you can increase the image on your monitor to whaever size is best for you.Try http://www.valueincoins.com lot of info on grading and also price of coins. As Viking suggested Redbook is a good one and as you accumulate a few coins invest in Redbooks "Collector's Inventory" helps you to keep track of your coins and has lots of info on U.S coins from 1856 to date.Have fun with your collecting.Silver closed today at close to $44.
