    alonghorn
    (1 item)

Unknown origin. 32 inches tall at back, seat is 18 inches across at front, 13 across at back. Brocade cushion filled with straw. Purchased at local auction. The description tag from auction reads < Sod house rocker. Hand forged springs. 1870s tapestry with straw stuffing. Original green paint.>
I'd like more information on it, as I have never seen anything like it before.

Yes it does have the fitting. It almost looks like horse shoe nails connecting the spring to the fitting that circles the leg.

Seeing an appraiser tomorrow about this chair. More interested in origin than dollar value, if there is any. Will let ya all know what I find out.

According to the appraiser the rocker is from the sod house era, without the history of past owner, it has a value of $ 150.00. If I can track down previous or original owner, or history the value goes up. He had no clues of where to find information, except the state historical society. So the search continues.
