I have lived in my home town for all 56 years of my life. When I was growing up I would go by the tracks about 3/4 mile from my home and watch the freight and commuter trains of the Erie-Lackawanna run through town. One of my favorite spots was at a grade crossing with a block signal about 10 yards from the crossing. When Conrail and NJ Transit replaced the signal system in the early 1980's, my favorite signal was removed. Thanks to the station agent in my town who I knew very well, I was given the number plate from the signal. I restored it and have enjoyed it for the past 30 years. It reminds me of my youth. I still go to that crossing today. This is an Erie RR signal number plate, which was located at milepost 16 on the Erie / Erie Lackawanna Bergen County Line. Mile 15, Track 1. The B stood for Bergen County Line, to differentiate it from signal 15 - 1 on the parallel Erie Mainline located a few miles away in another town.
