A pitcher that is small, 12- 14 inches tall, maker mark painted, combined which looks to me as "F E", Francois Eloury?? It has the look of Quimper, and is not marked with a country of origin. This makes it pre 1891, hand painted mark, but formal. Looks Continental in manufacture. Antique, not a repoduction due to the tin glazed chipping showing the sub glaze earthenware. The amount of wear on the foot to me suggests significant age as well. What do you all think???
I have had a look on the net for a mark for François Eloury but have not found anything. Perhaps you ound contact the Musée de la Faïence de Quimper ?

Are you sure this is French and not Italian ?
hello, I am not sure at all about country of origin..the style of the decoration looks like Quimper..I thought for a while it was Italian, but I cannot match the pitcher's style to any makers marks that are even close to mine. I looked at the mark as a double F for a long time and gave up..Here I am, still guessing!!

A double F could be Fratell Fanciullacci if it were Italian. There are some more tradeional pieces by them in the 'older style'.
hello..I think I found a makers mark for this on old and sold website. Denmark, page of marks has a F looking mark, and zooming in I see it is a J on the tail of an F..It is item #9, and it is a Copenhagen factery or maker, named Jacob Fording, 1753-1770. It looks as close as I can get...anyone..what do you guys think???

Yes! Number 9 is the mark i meant..that is the closest that I've come to a match with the actual mark on the item pictured..but it will take more work looks like..!
ok everybody...I had a typo..It is I believe still the mak as above..but the name is actually Jacob Fortling!! The blurry page kicked me..plus my aging eyes.
Now this is great news...he is super famous in Denmark..but;
Who is the expert to ask if I;m right???
My Danish is not an option..galleries? Museums?? ideas??

Well, back to the drawing board..I see "amourial" jugs from the 15th and 16th century very much like my item shown here in form and size. The MET has data posted, and I measured mine and it is only a half millimeter difference in height.
Mine is not an amourial jug, but the shape and form makes me think it is of the period.
The pattern makes me think that it is from Itailia, Faenza , Tuscan?? but it again looks like delft patterns..
I am revising my perception of the marks to a J F as well looking at handwriting examples in the 18th C and before..still no clue to this mark..!! Help???
