I recently bought - and fell in love with - this table which I was told was 'vintage/retro'. I believe it is mid-century but I'm still learning. I've only ever seen another two online and neither owner knew the origins of their table. It's a beaut though; I think it's either reverse painted glass or a glass-topped inlay of some sort. When the light hits it the colours are amazing.
Ahh...
Awesome design. 50s I'd say!
Thanks racer4four. I think it's 50's too. My dad said the screws used in it were first used in the 50s. It's lush, isn't it? It makes me want to disco!
Very cool table..love it...welcome to CW...:-)
Thanks Inky :)
Very nice table :) it looks like good qualty.
Thanks Elisabethan,
It's a beaut but a mysterious one.
I've seen one on Pinterest attributed to Gio Ponti. I doubt it is, but it may certain,y have been inspired by him. I wish it was! I'd charge people to have a cup of coffee off it, hehe x
Wonder if this came from a restaurant or club. The male/female couple look like they are dancing.
Hi Caperkid, Yes I thought that might be the case too. I've only seen one other on Pinterest attributed to Gio Ponti (I wish!) and recently somebody in my area was selling one on eBay so I messaged the lady to ask if she had any info. The only thing she could tell me was that one of the characters from Eastenders has one in her lounge! I don't watch TV so I'd missed that. It seemed strange to see two in the same region which made me think they may have been designed for a bar or similar, but I now know there is one down south. Maybe I should contact the props manager from the BBC and ask her/him if they know anything :))
That would make for a great story if this was a set piece. Still a beautiful table . Good luck keep us posted :)
I'll ask my wife if she she the show she's a Coronation St fan and is British.
Haha! Yes, do. Xx
Thanks Motorheadmn. Xx
