Trying to identify the mechanism in the photo behind the boy on the left. This photo is circa 1920/1930's from Old Burnside Kentucky. Not sure if it is some type of valve for municipal utilities or what. Any ideas?
It is by a hydrant so I would guess a water supply valve is on it to turn on water at hydrant ? Great Photo
It,s a fuel or oil pump. Our local 1880's general store has one but it is inside the store. It goe's into a tank in the basement and was used to to fill kerosene for lamps, or heaters. They were made by the same company's that made the big visible gas pumps
Being outside on the curb, this one could have been used to dispense gas.
This is an early Bowser curb gas pump from from the early 1900's, this sold gasoline by the pint , quart or gallon.
