Antique, Vintage, or "Inspired"? Child Desk

This is my happy little thrift shop find! I was just browsing in Value Village when I came across it. We didn't really need it, but I figured my little guy might like it. Is there any tell-tale way of identifying whether it is an antique, vintage or just somebody's project that was inspired by such an era? It is very solid and sturdy. Minimal wear and tear. Unfortunately, it appears to have been refinished. I would have liked to see it in it's original state. I could not find anything engraved/stamped anywhere on the desk. I saw an ad of the same style desk and they were saying that it is from the 1920s. Hmmm...it's a mystery. :)
