This Pillivuyt cachepot is unlike anything produced at the factory.Over the past decade I have found twelve others of the same size and shape/style.They all were hand painted with still life, landscape, and floral motifs.I sent pictures to Pillivuyt and they were amazed to find their backstamp on it!"Very Unusual".They could confirm it was made 1910-30.There is a small firing line on top rim that has been glazed over.I believe that this may be a factory"second" and that this is decorated by an artist at the factory for personal reasons[gift etc].Of the twelve seen over the years half had the same blue and white stripes below the top rim. So,although unusual this was done in factory and not by a third party. This ,I believe,is what the artist WANTED to paint without the constraints of factory decoration.A very appealing design!
stunning and welcome to cw!!!!
Thank you Sean68!
Your very welcome nouveaunut!!
jardinere or cachepot?
Very nice art nouveau piece, me like!
TO: ho2cultcha, it shows evidence it was used so I consider it a jardinière as opposed to a cachepot. I forgot to mention that it is 8.25" H, and 10.25" W from handle to handle.
