Found this interesting little table the other day and have some hard times dating it. The lack of stretchers suggests a tavern or utility table.... It is joined with tiny wooden pegs in most places, and old screws in others (this could have been added later to hold the top on). The top is one solid piece, even though it doesn't look like it, it has many cracks that run the length but a close look shows me it is indeed one solid piece. The table top is very white, perhaps from cleaning with white lye soap. The drawer held together with lap joinery and wooden pegs.
This came from a very old home in Morristown, NJ. There were also a few 18th century chairs I snagged from the home as well. Please feel free to comment.
thanks mikelv and kyratango for the loves
Very pretty!
I'd like to see the 18th century chairs-- pls post when you have a chance.
