Hi folks,
My friend just received this photo as part of a lot at an auction. He doesn't have a computer, so I am reaching out to the Collectors Weekly crowd, looking for an answer!
We are stumped as to where this photo might have been taken. On the back is the name C.F. Betts from Washington DC. The only place we can find that name is on a list of excursionists who attended a memorial dedication at Gettysburg in 1889.
Sorry for the quality of the photo. Any help would be appreciated.
A photo of the back would be helpful.
Looks to be Spanish American War soldiers or close to it. Based on format of the photo and uniforms, I'd put it at about 1895- 1905 time period.
A blow up of the hat on the guy on the far left may reveal traceable unit numbers. Additionally the barrel may have some clues on the label.
Without photographer information, you will be hard pressed to really pinpoint this image.
