Since there have been discussions of thorn vases on CW lately, I wanted to share one I have had for a few months that I find to be quite unusual. It is a single thorn vase, in an unusual soft peachy-pink, transitioning to green at the rim. It may be hard to see in my picture, but it is finished in a flashed iridescence, which I have never seen on other thorn vases before.
The reason I suspect my thorn vase to be Welz is that (besides the fact that I obviously believe Welz made thorn vases) I have seen quite a few Welz glass baskets (they often have a distinctive molding pattern on the body and twisted or thorny handles) in the same unusual shade of peachy-pink and green. When I discussed this with Welzebub (Craig) several months ago, he mentioned that he had seen examples of Welz glass in a flashed finish. So while I am not sure of the maker of my particular thorn vase, I do personally feel it could definitely be another example of a Welz thorn.
Great example. I love this one and find it to be a very unusual color combo with an interesting transition through the vase......
Although certainly not definitive proof, it certainly bears a strong resemblance to this group of Welz production. Not a commonly seen decor of pink and green done in this manner.
Nice One!!

Which piece in that link is labeled Welz?
Thanks, Craig! :)
My pleasure Michelle..
What a lovely thorn vase, Michelle.....and such subtle changes of colour too!
Thank you, Peggy! :)
Does the green glow under black light ? I love this colour combination. Very Czech.
I can say that the ones in my pics in the same décor do... to varying degrees, but they all glow reasonably well.
Vetraio, I had never even thought of checking before, but I just went and used my black light on it - the green portion of the vase glows quite brightly.
So all 5 examples of a décor that appear quite similar, also react to UV similarly.....
This is beautiful..can just seen it in my collection!!...:-))
Beautiful thorn vase!

Lovely colors and textured surface Michelle!
Thank you, inky, Scott & Rick! I am so glad you like it, too. :)
Michelle, anytime you get bored of this piece :)
Thanks, Lee - I'll let you know! ;)
Ah Ahh! This looks Very like mine vase :) same colours. Is the inside hexagonal and the green lining uranium?
Sorry Michelle, I see you've already answered my questions, I should have finished reading the comments. Lol. Lovely vase btw :)
The shape of the feet on your thorn vase also appears on thorn vases in known Welz spatter vases. Something I didn't know two years ago :)
Thank you, Peggy. I do believe this piece to be Welz now. Good to know about the feet shape! :)
