I accidentally became the proud owner of these two large German vases when I put in a low bid on an online auction, thinking that someone would overbid, but it turned out that I was the only bidder! They were probably made at the Bürgeler Kunstkeramische Werkstätte in Germany around 1920. They have a lovely brown crystalline drip glaze.
Here are some other vases from the Pottery (along with some history): http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/115741-two-vases-from-the-brgeler-kunstkerami
Height: 22 cm. Mark: the vases are marked only with the number 630, but they are very similar in style to other BKW pieces I have seen. Moreover, one identical vase has been sold via German ebay where it was identified as BKW. Incidentally, it went for twice as much as my two vases, so it only goes to show that there is no market for German pottery here!
stunning!!!
Thank you for the loves, everyone!
Very nice!...:-)
Thanks for the comment, inky! And for the loves, Ivonne, fledermaus, and racer4four!
