I just received this vase I bought at auction. It was listed as Kralik, but I wasn't sure due to it's size (it measures almost 17" tall) and the shape, which I have been unable to find. Even though I was uncertain, I left a minimum bid and was the only bidder. I figured what-the-heck it's a nice piece anyway, so I have nothing to lose. Does anyone have an idea who the maker could be?

    Thanks -Rick

Great color, Great Size, Great Shape.... I would think quite likely Kralik, although I do not recognize the shape either..... Martelé can be tough to nail down sometimes, due to the number of houses that that are known to have made it.

Thanks so much for the comments and love Peggy, Inky, Welz, Karen and Sean, and thanks for the love Katherine, Lee, Aghcollect, Mike, and Ivonne, it's all appreciated.

@Inky... Yes, I had seen the link, so I knew the color was right, but it's the rest that threw me.

@Welz... So possibly Kralik huh? Well at least it's a start. Do you know some of the other makers of Martele (outside of Loetz of course) so I can do a little more reasearch? What gave me pause about the vase is that nobody else bid on it, so I figured the other collectors must know something that I didn't, but I thought it might be worth the chance.

@Karen... Thanks Karen... I too love the neck with its slight twist and iridescence.

Gotta love a mystery! Regardless of maker it's a stunning color and an absolutely all around beautiful vase.

Hi Rick, The other houses known to produce Martelé aside form Loetz and Kralik are Rindskopf and also I believe, Harrach. Kralik seemd to have a real affinity for the use of cobalt.

There are likely other companies who produced Martelé that are not identified as of yet. The size is unusual, but not unheard of.... and that may be what kept some bidders away..... Although I have to say that I am not aware of any companies that reproduced the Martelé décor later....

Sometimes our reward for a small gamble, and simply paying attention is a great buy.... that appears to have happened here for you....

In the third image the rim looks to have a high polish on it? Is that correct? From the pics everything about it looks right to be old glass.....

Thanks so much for the positive comments and love Smiata, Alan and Surf, and thanks for the love Ivonne, it's all appreciated.

@Welz... Thanks for the additional information. If by highly polished you mean reflective, then yes it does. I'm thinking that now comes the uh oh moment... Should the rim be dull?

      Thanks for the love Ian.

No.... Dull would likely be of a concern to me..... polished and reflective is what I was looking for....
