(1 item)
Just picked these up at a Garage Sale. Unsure if they are part of a set or not. Marked as Thomas Bavaria on both and the 1932 plate has an additional mark as Handgemalt - ENTWUFR E. NASELHUHN. both are ~12.5" in diameter. Have not been able to identify any information on the internet at all.
Hi Kev2015
I was coincidentally researching the company that these plate belong to, this morning when I came across your plates.
The company name is Rosenthal and they are about 150 years old.
They are still in production today and sold in department stores like
John Lewis.
Many famous designers over the years have designed items for Rosenthal, and each era/period in the company's history has a specific mark on the base which denotes the date - you can go on to the Rosenthal site to see which mark matches the ones on your plates.
The Rosenthals ran the company right up until just before the war, when it appears it was taken over by the Nazi's, who designed/made these plates with the Nazi insignia on them.
This would make sense as Rosenthal is a Jewish name.
I am sure your plates have a value, but I would personally batter them to pieces!
