I found these tonight in front of a beautiful mansion in Alameda. They had been left out in the trash. There is some damage to the rattan, but i imagine that there are people who restore rattan.

Hi, your chairs are really charming. There are places that can do repairs on rattan and cane. Your chairs look a bit similar to a pair I pinned on Pinterest - https://www.pinterest.com/pin/319614904784091342/
An American Designer named Tony Paul designed a magazine rack (http://www.automaton.us/product/tony-paul-magazine-rack) with a similar design. Dirk Van Sliedregt for Rohe' designed a chair similar to yours called the Rattan Easy Chair - http://www.pamono.com/rattan-easy-chair-by-dirk-van-sliedregt-for-rohe-1950s.
There's a shop in Albany, CA called Jardin Wicker that does rattan repair. I've never used them personally, but they look like they know what they're doing.
Good luck! I think they're lovely and worthy of repair. Glad you saved them from an untimely death :)
thank you for the great info zoe33! much appreciated. that's a very good link as well.
