The M-35 helmet was the standard issue helmet at the outbreak of the war. This helmet is the Luftwaffe version being painted a light blue grey. The helmet is double decaled, having the national colors on one side, and the Luftwaffe flying eagle on the the other side. Both decals were placed just below the vent holes. By 1941 it was ordered that all soldiers scratch off the national colors because it made a good target. Not all troops followed this order, so it is rare to find a double decal helmet. This helmet is camoflagued in the Normandy pattern in colors of green and tans. The helmet has the original liner and chinstrap, and has the soldier's name painted in the dome and also on the side apron of the helmet in white paint. This helmet was issued to a soldier of the 26th flak regiment, for it is stamped into the chinstrap.

Driewer, I started collecting militaria in the mid 1970's, when prices were dirt cheap. You could always find a helmet at a pawn shop or thrift store back then for about $25.00. That would be impossible today. I sometimes find them at antique stores or malls and they want $400.00 for a piece of junk.
      Regards,
      Mike
