The knife is unusual - Not because of its shape or size - but the material its made from. The knifes measurements are Blade is 6" Long and 1" deep. The handle is 4" long and the widest part is 1". The handle appears to be brass that is silver or chrome plated. Its not heavy - So if it is brass its hollow. There are no makers marks that we can find. The blade appears to be possibly plastic! It feels quite strong and has many score lines along it. Under a loupe light it looks almost grainy. But no pores or veins in it. Is it a childs play knife!? It could certainly do some damage if it was. A letter opener?? Appears to be wrong for this application - Neither edge appears to be sharpened - but that could be to do with age! Any Ideas please..
If you check some of the blade forums they can probably help you. Looks like a bone blade knife. Usually from something like Elk bone. Not terribly uncommon and craftsmen still make them.
Ver nice letter opener. The shape of the handle is quite beautiful. It might be a horn blade ?
Antler blade is certainly a possibility. I buy some smaller ones every year for projects like knobs etc.
