Rare Disney Character Toy from the 40s - Joe Carioca

This toy is the character Joe Carioca, the swave parrot that shows Donald Duck around Rio in the Disney cartoon "Three Caballeros" and also appeared in "Saludos Amigos" and other cartoons. The character was voiced by Carmen Miranda's Brazilian guitarist, Jose Oliveira. This toy was created by Charlotte Clark, who created most of the Disney plush toys in the thirties and forties. Jose was given the toy by the Disney company after the release of the film. Jose gave it to his friend Sam Cunha, cousin of Carmen Miranda, in the mid sixties. Sam passed away in 2010 and the item was retained by his daughter, Miranda Cunha. It is a very rare Disney collectable with a unique history.
