I purchased an amazing thing over the weekend. It looks like a victorian era photo album, but inside are 264 of these amazing designs, all appearing to be done by hand or by some sort of antique contraption and all hand-colored. They range in size from 2-1/2" square to 5" square and are dated from 1902-1909. There was something called a "Wondergraph" that would have been able to create these, but it was only sold from 1906-1907, so I have no idea if this is what was used to create these. There is a name in the front cover of the book "Glenn H. Niles", who was an inventor of furnace parts in the early 20th century. Was this a hobby of his? I have no idea. I cannot find anything like them anywhere on the internet. I am in love with them but would love to know anything more about them and suggestions for what to do with them.
Looks like very nice Mandalas - within buddhism and hinduism. Has a conection to meditation. Read more online.
Going by the pattern in no. 149, I would say these are weaving patterns/designs for weaving narrow fabric and circular weaving.

This is incredibly beautiful. I do spirograph art and would love to get in contact with you should you ever see this!!! blakahalt@gmail.com
Spectacular! That needs to be assessed by an expert. But which kind of expert? 264 of them? My GOD - the TIME it took to hand color each one!! And every single one unique! As art - I would ask a lot for each one framed!
You could reproduce them as prints, too - and label them as such. Or make Fabric from them! Stationary! The possibilities are endless. What a find! I say lucky you!
