    I am a fence contractor and I inadvertently dug this up about 10 years ago in the Nashville TN area. A friend recently told me he thought it was a Native American hammer head or tool. (He actually called it by name but I don't remember what he called it). He thought it was unusual because it had more than one groove around it. I thought I should post it to see if someone knew exactly what it was.

      It doesn't appear to be a Native American artifact. It's like a rock concretion, often mistaken for something else....

      yes, i agree w/ CanyonRoad. it looks like a concretion. i had one once which looked just like a pair of perfect goggles!
