This was found in the effects from my 92 year old mother-in-law. She came from London, England. It is sterling silver, engraved H.M.V. HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES 363 Oxford Street, W1.
The item is about three inches long and only 1/8 inch inch in diameter. It has a slider which pushes out the umbrella like spokes and hatpin type tip.
Could it have been a giveaway when the store opened? Any ideas on what it is for? Poufing hair or wigs?
Not only does it look intriguing but adds to my hatpin and boot buttonhook collection!
A swizzle stick, or champagne swizzle.
