as you can see, these pieces haven't been polished in ages. a friend of mine was demolishing a home in San Francisco, and he found these and a bunch of old papers in a secret cupboard hidden in the back of a cupboard. once again, am wondering whether i should just sell them for the silver or if they are worth holding on to or selling as pieces. i hope it's okay if i talk about this here as i'm not trying to sell them here - just need some info.
Do not scrap, Shreve & Company is the oldest company in San Francisco. Drop by the store, they should clean them for you for free. Such a nice find.

beautiful!!!
thank you TubeAmp and SEAN68! that's the kind of input i'm interested in getting. some of the pieces are a bit dented up. some are VERY large as well.
Hidden treasure! Love these stories!
Agree with others :-)
thanks kyratango!
I have a SHREVE STERLING putter golf club. Does anyone know how I can find out more about it? It is engraved SHREVE STERLING in CAPS and has a saphire as a guide mark.
Here is a car clock with the dial marked, Shreve & Co. San Francisco
( http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/167711-car-clock-shreve-and-co-san-francisco?in=collection-737 ), and several years ago when going to visit in San Francisco, I took it with me to see if they could give me some history on it. Not only did they tell me they didn't know any history on it, but they didn't care about knowing anything about it. I promptly put it back in my briefcase and left the store. I wouldn't waste my time making another trip and inquiring about anything from them again. Just my 2 cents worth.
Nice silver bowl ho2cultcha.
