These are a couple of the more ornate pieces - probably from the beginning of the 20th century. They are marked Harris and Shafer and Sterling along w/ some other marks and numbers. I just looked up Harris and Shafer and they were smiths operating in Washington DC from the 1880s-1938.
VERY NICE !!!!
Beautiful!
thank you vetraio50 and JoyB! after looking at other silver pieces, i think that these were made sometime between 1880 and 1900.
Just lovely silver.
thank you racer4four! even though i was a silversmith when i was young, i've never been into collecting silver. it doesn't hold a whole lot of interest for me for some reason.
Absolutely beautiful!
thank you melaniej!
Dear Ho2,
Those are so wonderful. I think they are Repousse, meaning the ornate design that was created by pushing it out from the inside.
HARRIS & SHAFER - Washington, D.C.
A partnership of Edwin Harris and Charles A. Shafer (1880-1938)
