these were all found by a friend of mine who was demolishing a house in San Francisco. They were in a secret cupboard inside of a large built-in cupboard. There were a bunch of papers w/ them too - which i bought as well.
do you think i should polish these up w/ some silver polish?
Marks please, they don't look sterling silver, anyway the salt shatter's were never made from S Silver I think.
filmnet: what is a salt shatter? the salt cellars are all marked sterling.
almost all of these are marked sterling. there are only three pieces which aren't. one is electroplate and the other is the one that baffles me here: http://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/158453-mystery-piece--european?in=user
They are not so tarnished, beeing away from light and air, amazing!
Please, no harsh polish nor silver dip. What I use is Hagerty Silversmiths' Silver Polish, with elbow grease and time ;-)
What a lovely surprise, and nice gift.
What an awesome find:) I hope he took great care and patience dismantling the rest of the house. No telling what other treasures it was hiding.
Thank you kyratango, Artistinside, and Trey!
